Buying Helia and updates

Helia's source code is free and public. The ready-made installers are sold in the store on 12hobbies.studio, and the money pays for the work. You can pay what you want for a version, or subscribe to get every new version. The store page says what each costs and what each gives you, and your account page there is where you find your downloads.

Prefer to build it yourself? That is always possible, from the same source: see the build guide in Installation.

What your copy does about updates

  • An installer from the store can keep itself up to date as your plan allows. Its About page has the extra settings for your account under Updates, and says there what they send and where. The store page explains the plans.
  • A copy built from source checks the signed update information, tells you when a newer version exists, and links to the Helia page. It never downloads an installer by itself. It sends nothing but the requests described in Updates, and you can turn even those off.

Either way Helia keeps working exactly as before when you do not update. Nothing stops working, nothing is deleted.

If you do not see account settings under Updates

Your copy was not built for the store, and Helia behaves as described in Updates.
