Research¶
Helia's design rests on two research reviews. They are working documents for designers rather than user documentation, and they say how far each claim was checked.
- Imaging methods: models, methods and recommendations for solar lucky imaging. It covers the atmosphere, capture, quality metrics, registration, stacking, professional restoration methods, post-processing, solar-specific workflow, machine learning, a comparison of existing tools, the recommended pipeline and how to test it.
- State of the art, October 2026: a refresh of the first review, with a method matrix, proposed milestones and a checklist for keeping it current at each release. It also lists corrections to the first document.
Both name other programs, their authors and their licences from public sources, and were re-checked against each program's own site or repository in October 2026. Anything that could not be checked there was removed. Helia is not affiliated with any of them, their names are trademarks of their owners, and what is said about them may be out of date or wrong (see Credits, licences and trademarks).
Both mark claims [V] when the source was read during the review and [M]
when stated from background knowledge and not re-checked. Treat [M] as
probably right, and confirm before relying on it.
The milestones in the Roadmap come from the second review.
